
Rev. Wavie J. Pierce, age 84, of Leitchfield, KY, departed this life, December 21, 2023) at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on January 5, 1939, in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Roy and Lillie Haynes Pierce.
He was a minister of the gospel for 58 years. He enjoyed reading the bible, singing and playing his guitar, working word search puzzles and playing with his grandkids. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Phyllis Bratcher Pierce of Caneyville; two sons, Tony Pierce (Tammy) of Clarkson and Jeff Nash (Tammy) of Caneyville; two daughters, Cathy Embry (Kent) of Leitchfield and Donna Pierce of Caneyville; daughter-in-law, Anita Lewis of Caneyville; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and another one on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Garrill Lewis, one great-grandson, Parker Embry, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, (December 28, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bishop Paul Pinnick of Jamestown, TN will be officiating. Burial will be in the Bates Cemetery on Dog Creek Road.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
