An Elizabethtown man has pled guilty to distributing child porn.

David M. Smith, 39, pled guilty earlier this week in Hardin County to six counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance, according to The News-Enterprise.

Smith was given a five-year concurrent sentence on each of the first three counts. He was also given a five-year concurrent sentence for the final three counts. The two concurrent five years sentences will run consecutively, giving Smith a total of 10 years in prison.

As part of the plea agreement, Smith was offered a 20 percent parole eligibility, but that eligibility is not guaranteed, the newspaper reports.

The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Smith in August 2022 after state police discovered he was sharing images of child exploitation online.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant being served at Smith’s residence where equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized.
