A LaRue County couple has been sentenced to federal prison for stealing hydrocodone and oxycodone from a pharmacy.

The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky announced that Stephen T. Wilmoth, 46, and his wife, Ashley Ramsey-Wilmoth, 41, both of Hodgenville, were sentenced to two years and nine months in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to commit theft of medical products and conspiracy to unlawfully distribute controlled substances.

There is no parole in the federal system.

Ramsey-Wilmoth, an employee of Century Medicines pharmacy in Elizabethtown, stole unopened bottles of oxycodone and hydrocodone from the business prior to the drugs being made available for retail purchase, according to prosecutors.

She then gave the oxycodone and hydrocodone to her husband to distribute.

This case was investigated by the DEA, Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services Office of Inspector General.

In April 2022, Century Medicines was fined $100,000 for “failing to satisfy recordkeeping requirements of the Controlled Substances Act,” according to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.
