The head coach of the Bowling Green Junior High School girls basketball team has been fired after his arrest for burglary and terroristic threatening.

Avery R. Driver, 34, of Bowling Green, was arrested on Lamplighter Court, south of Bowling Green in the Plano area, when he allegedly attempted to break into his ex-wife’s residence. He is additionally accused of sending his former wife threatening text messages.

Warren County deputies told news outlets that damage to the door frame of the home was clearly visible. The victim told police that Driver had been stalking her, as well.

Driver, a former basketball star at Warren Central High School, was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. He has since been released.

Driver was terminated from his position with the school district. He was hired as the junior high’s girls basketball coach in 2022.
