The LaRue County High School boys and girls head soccer coach has died.

Derek Bell, 61, of Hodgenville, died Monday evening at Baptist Health Hardin after suffering an asthma attack that led to respiratory and cardiac arrest, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

Bell, a native of England, was instrumental in shaping the burgeoning LaRue County Youth Soccer Association in 2003. He also served as head coach of the boys teams at John Hardin and Taylor County High Schools in addition to LaRue County.

Bell’s death comes on the heels of the head coach of the John Hardin High School boys basketball team, 41-year-old Austin Jones, passing away on the morning of January 29.
