A massive fire has destroyed one half of a duplex in Leitchfield.

Saturday night at approximately 5:20, the Leitchfield and Clarkson Fire Departments and EMS responded to the blaze at 33 Tennille Way, off Beaver Dam Creek Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found one half of a duplex nearly fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters entered the burning home to ensure no one was inside and cleared the other half of the duplex of its occupants.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the flames and another hour to complete an overhaul of the structure, which suffered a partial roof collapse.

The other half of the duplex sustained only “minor water damage,” according to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall.

There were no injuries reported.

The Leitchfield Police Department assisted at the scene.
