A Beaver Dam couple arrested two months ago on drug charges after fleeing police has been jailed on four drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop.

Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright said that on Saturday night at approximately 11:00, deputies observed a Ford Explorer, traveling south on Hwy 231 near Beaver Dam, with expired registration.

Upon stopping the vehicle, deputies made contact with the driver, 31-year-old Erin J. Baize, of Beaver Dam, and noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view.

During a search of the vehicle, police located approximately 3.6 ounces (102 grams) of methamphetamine, seven methamphetamine pipes and two loaded hypodermic needs containing an unknown liquid, along with drug paraphernalia, according to Wright.

Baize and her passenger and husband, 32-year-old Zakry J. Baize, of Beaver Dam, were arrested and each charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, opiates), two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, drug unspecified), possession of a controlled substance not in its proper container, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Erin Baize was also charged with non-moving violations.

Both suspects were lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center. Zakry Baize is being held on a $15,000 cash bond while Erin Baize was given a $10,000 cash bond.

On December 30, 2023, both Baizes were arrested on methamphetamine possession charges after Zakry Baize fled deputies at speeds over 100 miles per hour on Hwy 231 south in Ohio County.

Zakry Baize, in that case, was additionally charged with fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, reckless driving, driving on a suspended operator’s license, and failure to surrender a revoked license.
