A man has been murdered in Hardin County.

The Radcliff Police Department said officers were dispatched Wednesday morning at approximately 4:25 to an apartment complex at 678 Knox Boulevard in reference to a shooting.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a deceased male in the parking lot. The victim had been shot at least once.

The investigation resulted in the arrest approximately 90 minutes later of the murder suspect, 23-year-old Nicholas M. Vandergrift, of Louisville, Radcliff police said. He was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and fourth-degree assault.

The News-Enterprise reports that Vandergrift assaulted his girlfriend just prior to shooting the male victim.

Several law enforcement agencies, including Kentucky State Police and the Vine Grove and Shepherdsville Police Departments, assisted in the investigation.

Vandergrift was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond.
