A burglar has been shot and found with over an ounce of methamphetamine.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the attempted burglary and shooting Sunday morning at approximately 2:00 on Frisby Street in Monticello.

State police said the preliminary investigation showed that 56-year-old Tracy L. Kidd, of Monticello, “gained entry into a residence which startled the homeowner.” The homeowner then shot Kidd once.

The homeowner called 911, and upon EMS arriving at the scene they found approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine on Kidd.

The suspect was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition, according to state police.

Kidd, according to online records, was arrested in Wayne County in May 2023 and charged with first- and second-degree burglary and felony wanton endangerment. Earlier this year, he was arrested on a DUI charge.
