The Leitchfield Fire Department battled a large brush fire, saving multiple structures, as the property owner was transported to the emergency room.

Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:00, LFD responded to the fire in the 200 block of Kiper Road after a trash fire spread, likely due to windy conditions.

A large turnout and quick response by LFD personnel saved three structures, two homes and a shed, from destruction. A vehicle, though, was burned up in the fire.

The male property owner, about a half-hour after fire personnel arrived, began displaying symptoms of smoke inhalation. He was treated at the scene before being transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.

No other injuries were reported.
