A man has died after the floor of a warehouse used as a storage facility collapsed in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Emergency Management said the collapse occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 4:10 at a former Tobacco Farmer’s Warehouse in Mt Sterling.  Killed in the collapse was 63-year-old Alex Slone, of Bath County.

The accident happened when a crew was working in a crawlspace under the floor when “heavy materials” caused the floor to collapse on top of the workers, the Montgomery County Fire Marshal told WKYT.com. No one else suffered injuries.

Officials said the floor fell between six and eight feet.
