A fire has destroyed a mobile home and recreational vehicle on Maple Street in Leitchfield.

The Leitchfield Fire and Police Departments, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson Co. Emergency Management Director Carey Sims, and EMS responded to the blaze at 52 Maple Street (off Brandenburg Road behind the Dollar Store) at approximately 11:00 Tuesday night.

Initial reports indicated someone was inside the residence as it was on fire, but everyone in the home – it’s unclear exactly how many occupants were in the residence when the fire started – made it safely out.

Upon firefighters arriving, the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames, and a recreational vehicle parked adjacent to the residence was also on fire.

Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly two hours, as the residence and recreational vehicle were destroyed.

It’s thought that the fire began in a bedroom on the right side of the residence. Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall told K105 he will return to the scene on Wednesday to determine the cause of the fire.

There were no injuries reported and LFD cleared the scene at 1:17 Wednesday morning.
