Wife of Glasgow PD sergeant killed in head-on collision, GPD issues statement

The Glasgow police chief has issued a statement on the death of one of the department’s supervisors in a car accident.

Tracy York-Murrell, 39, wife of Glasgow PD Sgt. Cameron Murrell, was killed in a head-on crash on Sunday afternoon at approximately 4:15 on Hwy 55 in Taylor County, according to Kentucky State Police. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sgt. Murrell, 33, a passenger in the vehicle, was treated and released from University of Louisville Hospital.

The driver and passenger occupying the other vehicle involved were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

” Sgt. Cameron Murrell is a valued member of our department, and our hearts ache for him during this incredibly difficult time. The entire Glasgow Police Department extends our sincerest condolences and support to Sgt. Murrell and his family as they navigate this devastating loss,” Glasgow Police Chief Guy Howie said in a statement.

“We ask that the community respect the privacy of the Murrell family as they grieve the loss of Tracy,” Guy continued. “Our department is providing Sgt. Murrell with the necessary support and resources, and we will continue to stand by him as he copes with this tragedy. We urge everyone to keep Sgt. Murrell and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning.”

Kentucky State Police Post 15 is investigating the crash.
