An Elizabethtown man has avoided jail time via a plea agreement on child sex abuse charges.

George McAllister, 59, reached a plea deal with prosecutors on three charges of first-degree sexual abuse, with the victims under the age of 12, a class D felony. As part of the deal, McAllister will serve no jail time if his probation isn’t revoked for five years, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

McAllister was arrested in February 2023 after he committed a sex act in front of two victims who were staying at his home in October 2022. McAllister, the Elizabethtown newspaper reports, knew the victims were present during the sex acts.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Teresa Logsdon, who prosecuted the case, told the Elizabethtown newspaper: “An observation was made of the children based on the conduct of the defendant. I know it’s highly unusual for me to recommend probation on these offenses, but based on lack of (physical) contact and the conduct itself, we agreed to these amended charges.”

Logsdon added that the parents or guardians of the victims did not offer victim impact statements.

McAllister must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and is prohibited from having contact with either victim.
