Elizabeth Marie Mattingly, age 43, of Sadler, KY passed away Thursday, (May 30, 2024) at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

She was born on August 22, 1980, in Elizabethtown, KY, the daughter of James Russell and Lois Carroll Mattingly.

Elizabeth was a K-5 Reading Interventionist at H.W Wilkey Elementary School. It takes a big heart to teach little minds, and that is what Elizabeth possessed. She loved her school kids as if they were her own. Her passion didn’t stop in the classroom; she was also a private tutor to many students and previously served on the Site Based Council. She was a friendly face you saw at the student pick-up line. Outside of teaching, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending various family events, hiking, playing card games, gardening and growing her indoor plants.

Elizabeth was very involved with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, serving as the county chairperson for several years. Her niece and nephews were the biggest part of her world. Wherever and whatever they were doing, Aunt Liz was there to cheer them on. She was saved at Caneyville Baptist Church and most recently attended Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she is survived by sisters, Glenna Geralds (Tommy) of Tompkinsville, KY and Jessica Green (Brad) of Caneyville, KY; niece and nephews, Dillon Geralds (Claire), Gavin Geralds, Emily Green, and Kyle Green; one very special great-nephew, Hayes Geralds; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors also survive.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield (wear pink). Bro. John Chidester will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny Point Cemetery in Edmonson County, KY.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
