Three people are facing attempted murder charges after a shooting in Pulaski County.
The shooting, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, occurred Monday morning at approximately 1:30 when the three suspects, 49-year-old Asa Simpson and 24-year-old Christian Helton, both of Somerset, and 20-year-old Bralyn Greer, of Stanford, were in a vehicle on Hwy 192, about four miles east of Somerset, when one of the suspects shot multiple times at a car occupied by a man and woman.
The woman was hit in the shoulder, with the bullet entering her lung. She was initially transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital before being transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center.
The investigation showed that Simpson’s vehicle had been stolen, and he traveled down Hwy 192 trying to locate it.
“Helton told Simpson where the vehicle was, and they could go get it back,” the sheriff’s office said. “All three suspects went to get the vehicle, but as they did, they saw it traveling on Highway 192. While attempting to get the vehicle to stop, one or more of the occupants of the suspects’ vehicle fired multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle.”
Upon being arrested late Monday morning, none of the three suspects admitted to the shooting.
All three were charged with attempted murder and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bonds.
