A woman has been shot after spraying deputies with an “unknown substance” and threatening to kill deputies with a pitchfork.
The incident began Tuesday night at approximately 10:15 when Knox County deputies responded to a report of a suicidal female barricaded in a residence on Sugar Maple Drive in the Green Road community. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the female, 53-year-old Daisy Allen, who sprayed deputies “with an unknown substance, which affected all three deputies,” according to Kentucky State Police.
Deputies attempted non-lethal measures, deploying a taser and using pepper spray to subdue Allen. The measures were ineffective, though, as state police said “Allen then made verbal threats to kill the deputies and armed herself with a pitchfork.”
A deputy then shot Allen in the abdomen.
Allen was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center where she’s listed in critical condition.
The deputies Allen sprayed received “aftercare for their faces,” police said.
The Kentucky State Police investigation is ongoing.
