Donna Sarbacker, 65, of Caneyville, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday April 27, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband, Harland Sarbacker.

She is the daughter of Wilma (Raeger) Sowell Ubank and the late Samuel Sowell. Survivors include her brother, Shane Sowell, and sister, Sharon Boren of Hopkinsville, KY, as well as a host of children and
grandchildren in her blended family.

Donna and Harland married in 2003 and briefly lived in Bristol, TN, and Longview TX before settling down happily in Caneyville. An animal lover, Donna rescued countless cats in her life and was always willing to care for a stray or take care of any animals that came into her orbit.

The dogs, wild animals, and wild birds were always well fed, and she always made her home feel like an oasis. When Donna had her mind set on something she saw it through and got it done, whether it was refreshing the décor in their home or working outside in the yard.

Donna was very creative and artistic. She loved hosting and organizing outings with her friends and
loved ones in her community, whom she cared for deeply. Donna volunteered for 15 years at Twin Lakes Hospital in Leitchfield, where, among other things, she spent countless hours knitting stuffed monkeys for children heading into surgery.

She loved kids and kept fun pool floats and toys on hand for when the grandkids came for a visit. A long-time country music lover, Donna was spotted at a Metallica concert (twice) and enjoyed sharing interests with her husband, Harland. A music lover, she recently ordered a new Smokey Robinson album and was looking forward to enjoying it.

Donna and Harland loved to travel and go on road trips. They traveled to Germany and other parts of Europe together and loved reminiscing about their adventures in Alaska. Donna was never without fresh flowers in the 22 years she was married to Harland, and she had a keen mind for remembering their special dates and anniversaries. The love they shared was timeless, and she will be greatly missed.

Arrangements for a Celebration of Life are forthcoming and will be announced to family and friends at a later date.

Dermitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
