Two Grayson County residents have been arrested after fleeing Kentucky State Police in Caneyville.

The incident occurred Thursday morning at approximately 11:35 when a trooper was patrolling Bowling Green Road (Hwy 185) in Caneyville and spotted a 2006 GMC Sierra thought to be involved in a burglary in Butler County, according to the arrest citation.

The trooper attempted to stop the truck after it ran a stop sign at the intersection of Southland Drive and Morgantown Street. The truck, according to the citation, continued on Morgantown Street into Caneyville before blowing through the four-way stop at the intersection of Beaver Dam Road (Hwy 62) and Falls of Rough Road (Hwy 79), as the vehicle fled north on Falls of Rough Road.

The driver, 48-year-old Patrick J. Fegan, of Caneyville, continued fleeing and turned onto Watershed Road, as speeds were between 45 and 65 miles per hour.

Fegan, trying to lose the trooper, turned around in a yard on Watershed Road and “headed back in the direction we just came,” the citation states.

Fegan, according to the citation, was using the entire roadway during the pursuit, resulting in the trooper asking for authorization to perform a PIT maneuver, which was granted.

As the trooper prepared to PIT the truck, Fegan hit his brakes, causing the trooper to “collide with the rear of the vehicle,” the citation states.

The trooper then performed the PIT maneuver, spinning the truck into a ditch where it overturned.

Fegan and his passenger, 46-year-old Melinda D. Parks, of Caneyville, who was wanted for absconding from parole, were taken into custody.

Fegan was charged with fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, and speeding 25 mph over the limit along with non-moving violations.

Parks was served with a warrant for a probation violation.

The vehicle was towed to a lot, as the Butler County Sheriff’s Office will search the truck for items stolen in the Butler County burglary. Based on what Butler County officials find in the truck, additional charges are possible.

Fegan, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, has been convicted 14 times since 2007 for various offenses, including receiving stolen property (three times), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, criminal facilitation to manufacturing methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine (twice), fleeing or evading police (twice), possession of a controlled substance (twice), and first-degree criminal mischief.

He is on probation until 2051.

Parks was convicted of three charges in 2022: twice for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
