An off-duty police officer has shot and killed a man accused of breaking car windows.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning at approximately 11:25 in the 10000 block of Robison Drive in Jeffersontown, according to a report by WAVE.com.
Jeffersontown Police Chief Richard Sanders told the Louisville television station that dispatch had received multiple calls about a man breaking car windows and “acting strange.” An unidentified off-duty J-town officer learned of the behavior and confronted the man.
During the exchange, the officer shot and killed the suspect.
It’s unclear if the suspect was armed.
Investigators are searching the area to determine if surveillance cameras in the area recorded the incident, as the officer, who was not in uniform, did not have a body worn camera.
Sanders told WAVE.com that the officer has been with J-town police for a few years. The officer previously served with the Louisville Metro Police Dept.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation.
