An Elizabethtown man has been accused of strangling a woman during a domestic dispute over children.
The Elizabethtown Police Department arrested 26-year-old Joshua L. Fisher and charged him with second-degree strangulation (domestic violence), fourth-degree assault (dating violence), endangering the welfare of a minor, and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
The charges, according to The News-Enterprise, stem from an incident on Wednesday on Village Drive when Fisher, while arguing with a woman over their children, shoved the victim onto a child while trying to take the woman’s cellphone.
He then allegedly placed his hands around the woman’s neck, cutting off her ability to breathe, and telling her that she “needs to learn her place.”
Fisher then threatened the woman with more violence if she told anyone about the assault, the Elizabethtown newspaper reports.
Fisher eventually left the residence but was later found and arrested. He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
