A man has pled guilty to vehicular homicide after registering a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit following a fatal crash.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said that 31-year-old Wesley N. Allen, of London, pled guilty last week to vehicular homicide and DUI in the November 28, 2023, death of 64-year-old Fred R. Johnson Jr., of London.
The plea agreement calls for Allen to serve a 15-year sentence.
The deadly crash occurred on Hwy 192 about four miles west of London when Allen, while driving a GMC truck, crossed the center line and struck head-on a Honda Civic, being driven by Johnson.
It was determined, the sheriff’s office said, that Allen was under the influence at the time of the crash, as he recorded a .197 on a breathalyzer test, more than double the legal limit to drive.
Allen was initially charged with murder.
