A man who “came at” at deputy with a machete has been shot and killed.
Kentucky State Police said the incident occurred Monday night at approximately 7:30 on Eighth Street in Corydon, a town of about 700 residents about nine miles southwest of Henderson.
The investigation showed that the Henderson Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance where a man was threatening family members with a machete, according to state police.
When deputies arrived, they encountered 64-year-old Charles Powell Jr., of Corydon, as state police said Powell refused to drop the machete and “came at the responding deputy.” The deputy then shot Powell.
He died while en route to a hospital.
Kentucky State Police is leading the ongoing investigation.
