Elsie Mae Brown, age 93, passed away Wednesday June 11, 2025, in Leitchfield. She was born on November 5, 1931, in Glasgow, Kentucky to Joe Bunch and Bettie Wilcurt Bunch.
In her younger years, she was a member of a Glasgow quartet that played in several churches and entertained shut-ins and elderly people in their homes. She enjoyed farm work, gardening, cooking, quilting, playing several musical instruments by ear, and was an avid reader. Elsie worked as the Food Service Director for Glasgow Rest Home. She was a Baptist by faith, attending Crosspoint and First Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Brown of Leitchfield; a granddaughter, Brooke Smith and her husband Chris Hayse of Florence, KY; a son by choice, Ralph Smith; sister-in-law, Frankie Brown; a cousin, Joyce Shive; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Garnett Brown; a sister, Florence Steffey; infant twin brothers; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a bonus daughter Elaine Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM (CT), Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Watkins Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Norman Cubbage and Shawn Majors officiating. Burial will follow in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery
Visitation will be from 4 to 8PM, Friday and after 9AM Saturday, at the funeral home.
