A woman drove a vehicle on a test drive and took it to a male who was nabbed stripping the vehicle of parts.
The Manchester Police Department said officers were dispatched to Redmond Chevrolet after 59-year-old Loretta Smith, of Manchester, took a vehicle for a test drive and never returned.
The ensuing investigation led police to Granny’s Branch Road where officers encountered 30-year-old Christian McNeal, of Manchester, who was “removing parts from the vehicle,” police said.
A fake registration plate had also been placed on the vehicle.
McNeal was charged with theft by unlawful taking (more than $1,000, less than $10,000) and theft by unlawful taking (motor vehicle, more than $10,000, less than $1 million). Smith was charged with theft by unlawful taking (motor vehicle, more than $10,000, less than $1 million)
Both suspects were lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
