There has been an apparent murder-suicide in Lee County.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded Monday afternoon at approximately 4:20 to Sally Davis Road after two bodies were discovered by Lee County deputies while conducting a welfare check.
The preliminary Kentucky State Police investigation showed the incident involved 48-year-old Bearl D. Ashcraft Jr., of Beattyville, and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Hayley M. Davidson, also of Beattyville.
“Authorities determined that Ashcraft fatally shot Davidson before taking his own life,” state police said.
Their remains have been transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsies.
KSP Det. Casey Caudill is leading the ongoing investigation.
