An Eastview man has been killed in a motorcycle accident in Hardin County.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded on Monday afternoon at approximately 4:40 to the crash in the 2600 block of Hardinsburg Road (Hwy 86).

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered that a motorcycle, being driven by 47-year-old Joseph Poddom, of Eastview, was traveling west on Hardinsburg Road when he attempted to overtake a westbound vehicle driven by an 83-year-old Cecilia woman, the sheriff’s office said.

As Poddom attempted to pass, the sheriff’s office said that the female driver “initiated a left-hand turn, and his motorcycle struck the rear driver’s side of her vehicle.”

Poddom was transported to Baptist Health Hardin (BHH) where he was later pronounced deceased. The female driver was transported to BHH with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
