A man has been tased and arrested after arriving at the Tompkinsville Police Department intoxicated.

Tompkinsville police arrested 54-year-old Garvis C. Morris Jr., of Tompkinsville, on Tuesday after he arrived at the police department to transfer titles to vehicles, according to a report by WNKY.com.

Officers detected the odor of alcohol coming from Morris, as he also displayed slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.

He became increasingly agitated, while admitting to police he had been drinking. When officers told the suspect he was being arrested for public intoxication, Morris resisted arrest and made threats before hitting an officer in the face. He was then tased by police.

In addition to public intoxication, Morris was charged with third-degree assault of a police officer (a class D felony), first-degree terroristic threatening (a class C felony), resisting arrest, and first-degree disorderly conduct.

Morris was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center where he’s being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
