A father has been indicted for killing his two teenage sons in a residential fire he intentionally set.
K105 previously reported two teenagers, 13-year-old Bentley Fields, and his brother, 15-year-old Rylan Fields, perished in residential fire on April 30 in the 5800 block of Flat Creek Road, about 10 miles northwest of Frankfort. The family dog also died in the blaze.
Two days after the fire, the teens’ father, 44-year-old Dustin L. Fields, was arrested and charged with first-degree arson. WKYT reports that, according to court documents, a K-9 officer detected an accelerant on Fields’ shoes and at various locations throughout the home, as well as where the boys’ bodies were found.
Additionally, court documents note that Fields’ statements to police were “inconsistent and conflicted with witness statements,” according to LEX18.com.
Fields, earlier this month, was indicted by a Franklin Co. Grand Jury on two counts of capital murder, first-degree arson and two counts of torture of a dog.
He’s being held in the Franklin Co. Regional Jail on a $2 million cash bond.
