One man is dead and another is charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Bullitt County.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the shooting at 4:30 Sunday morning at a residence in the 3000 block of Pioneer Trail in Hillview, approximately eight miles north of Shepherdsville.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they found 33-year-old Aaron Welker, of Shepherdsville, deceased from a gunshot wound to the head, according to state police.
The suspect, 34-year-old Kent Russell, also of Shepherdsville, was on scene when police arrived.
He was arrested and charged with murder and lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
The Bullitt County Coroner’s Office transported the victim’s body to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Pioneer Village Police Department. The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP Det. Kevin Dreisbach.
