
A motorcyclist is presumed dead after being ejected into the Ohio River.
According to the city of Newport, the incident happened Saturday night at approximately 8:00 on the Taylor-Southgate Bridge that connects Newport to Cincinnati.
“Rescue crews were immediately called to respond as witnesses on the riverbank reported seeing the individual fall into the water,” the city of Newport said in a social media post.
The motorcyclist has not been publicly identified, but “investigators have notified the family of the person believed to be the operator,” according to the city of Newport.
The Newport Fire Department told WLWT.com that the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a vehicle on the bridge, ejecting the driver into the Ohio River.
Boone County Water Rescue and Hamilton County (OH) Water Rescue are leading the search for the motorcyclist.
