The Elizabethtown Police Department is providing crime victims, who do not have access to cell phones, with “communication devices.”

“In accordance with our continued commitment to victim advocacy, we are proud to announce a new partnership with 911 Cell Phone Bank, a national organization dedicated to providing emergency communication devices to crime victims,” Elizabethtown PD Public Affairs Officer Chris Denham said.

Through this partnership, EPD “will distribute communication devices to victims who would otherwise go without,” Denham added.

Some of the devices are limited to 911 emergency calls only, while others come preloaded with up to 60 days of service.

“In return, we will assist 911 Cell Phone Bank by collecting used devices, including cell phones, tablets, and similar electronics,” according to Denham. “The organization will securely wipe and refurbish each donated device.”

Anyone interested in donating a device in support of this initiative may drop it off at the Elizabethtown Police Department: attention of Victim Services Specialist Anesha Knott.

All donated devices will be sent directly to 911 Cell Phone Bank for secure handling, Denham said.
