Houck, Lawson found guilty in the murder of Crystal Rogers

The two men charged with killing Bardstown mother Crystal Rogers have been found guilty.

Brooks Houck, 42, of Bardstown, and Joseph Lawson, 34, of Willisburg, were found guilty on murder and tampering with physical charges.  The verdict was announced early Tuesday afternoon at the Warren County Justice Center in Bowling Green.

The trial lasted just over a week.

Rogers, who was 35 when she disappeared from Bardstown on July 3, 2015, has never been found.

Houck, Rogers’ boyfriend and the father of one of her five children, faced charges of murder (principal or accomplice) and complicity to tampering with physical evidence, while Joseph Lawson faced charges of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.

The jury recommended a life sentence on Houck’s murder (principal or accomplice) charge, followed by five years in prison for complicity to tampering with physical evidence. The jury recommended 20 years for Lawson’s conspiracy to commit murder charge, and five years for tampering with physical evidence, according to a report by WNKY.com.

Final sentencing is scheduled for August 21.
