Work is scheduled to take place on the newly installed roundabout at the intersection of Elizabethtown Road (US 62) and the William Thomason Byway (Hwy 3155).

“With old pavement milled out, concrete pours are expected to take place Friday and Monday,” Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 Public Information Officer Chris Jessie said.

While the work is being completed, Jessie said “it is crucial for traffic to adhere to their designated lane space.”

“While the inside portion of the roundabout will ultimately be a mountable curb which allows larger vehicles to navigate the intersection, longer vehicles are encouraged to use an alternate route throughout this phase of construction to avoid curb strikes,” Jessie told K105.

Lengthy traffic delays will occur during concrete pours, as motorists may wish to use a detour. Additionally, drivers are reminded to slow down, give extra attention and follow lane marking cones and barrels closely.

“As with any construction project, uneven pavement surfaces, equipment and work crew personnel present additional obstacles and require careful driving to avoid vehicle damage and potential injuries to motorists and workers,” Jessie said.

Paving for the final surface is expected to take place the week of July 21.

Adverse weather may alter the scheduled construction dates.
