The Clarkson Fire Department responded Thursday night to a fire at an apartment complex.
Firefighters responded to the fire at the complex on West Short Street at approximately 8:05 when an oven caught fire. The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the apartment, following a quick and heavy response by Clarkson FD.
Clarkson Fire Chief Andy Cain told K105 that the remainder of the apartment suffered significant smoke damage.
Following firefighters extinguishing the blaze, Clarkson FD spent nearly 90 minutes conducting an overhaul (checking for hot spots) of the apartment before clearing the scene at 9:25 p.m.
The American Red Cross was notified to assist the family, Cain said.
No injuries were reported.
