A man has been arrested after walking naked on the Western Kentucky Parkway while carrying a handgun.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police responded to the report of a naked man with a gun walking on the eastbound parkway near the 93-mile marker Saturday morning at approximately 12:50.
Upon the trooper arriving at the scene, he made contact with the suspect, 34-year-old Evan R. Hack, of Bardstown, who walked away from the trooper in the middle of the eastbound lanes, according to the arrest citation.
The trooper gave Hack verbal commands to “drop the gun and put his hands up,” the citation states. Hack complied and was taken into custody.
Hack was “sweating profusely,” had “rapid speech and body movements” and “dilated pupils” and was “displaying signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine,” according to the citation.
After being arrested, Hack told police he had ingested methamphetamine at “approximately 5 pm that night.”
Hack further told police that he took his clothes off because he was hot.
When police took control of the firearm, the trooper noticed a spent shell casing in the chamber. Hack told officers that he shot into the ground toward his truck, which was found on the shoulder of the roadway near the 92-mile marker of the westbound parkway.
Police found “a large quantity of Hack’s personal items thrown in the ditch” near his truck. Additionally, police located “multiple rounds of ammunition, clothes, chainsaw, (and a) propane tank” in a ditch next to Hack’s truck.
A lawn chair was also found “set up in the median of the road approximately 150 yards east of the truck,” the citation says. Hack told police it was his chair.
The suspect was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree indecent exposure, menacing, stop/stand/park on limited access highway, second-degree disorderly conduct, public intoxication (controlled substance), and criminal littering.
He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
