He always felt like he had a destiny of loving others to fulfill. On July 8, 1936, he was born premature at only 3.5 lbs in Red Bluff, CA to Harold and Irene Heffley.
He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959, traveling the world three times over aboard the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown CV-10.
After being honorable discharged from the Navy and attending Chico State University, Pat found the career that would change his life. He became a lumber salesman for Weyerhaeuser and volunteered to take a sales position in Central KY.
Many came to know Pat through his continued sales career at Future Designs and Quality Aluminum Products from which he retired in 1999. After retirement he and Carol Lee continued to manage Bratcher’s Flea Market and Fair View Cemetery. He enjoyed woodworking throughout his life, a craft handed down from his father. Some who read this may have a basketball or football pedestal, each of which he crafted by hand.
Those who knew Pat knew that beyond his great love for his family, his career in sales, and his hobby of woodworking, was his true passion of bicycling. He saved for his first bike when he was 8 years old and was hooked. In 1972 he got his first road bike and began seriously logging the miles. Over the years there have been many bikes and many rides, but most of all he was so grateful for the countless friends with whom he shared or introduced to his joy for the sport. You all know who you are. Ride on in his memory!
Pat is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy Filer, and two brothers Robert and Jim Heffley.
