A Grayson County man has died after being stung multiple times by bees.

The Wax Fire Department and EMS responded to the incident Tuesday night at approximately 7:35.

The victim, 70-year-old Floyd R. Milliner, of Clarkson, was stung three times, according to Wax fire personnel, who performed CPR on the victim prior to EMS arriving at the scene.

Milliner was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS before being taken to University of Louisville Hospital.

He passed away early Wednesday morning at UofL Hospital.

One person on social media wrote about Milliner, also known as “Pappy” to some: “It was always a great time working with him or just seeing him out and about. I learned a lot from him. Gunna miss you. Please keep his family in your thoughts it’s a big loss.”

According to Medical News Today: “A bee sting may cause an allergic reaction or a severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can vary, but may include hives, a swollen throat or tongue, flushed skin, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and more.

“For most people, a bee sting only produces temporary pain and irritation at the site of the sting. For others, bee stings cause an allergic reaction that can range from mild to severe. In extreme cases, a bee sting can cause life-threatening anaphylaxis.

“Approximately 5% to 7.5% of people will experience a severe allergic reaction to insect stings in their lifetimes.”
