A young man has been killed when a side-by-side collided with a deputy’s cruiser.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the accident on Thursday night at approximately 9:30 on SE Business Drive in Corbin.
State police said the investigation showed that 39-year-old Knox County Deputy Michael Ashurst attempted a traffic stop on a side-by-side that was traveling on the roadway.
“The side-by-side, occupied by two males, and the deputy’s cruiser collided while on the roadway,” state police said.
The driver of the side-by-side, 21-year-old Todd St. John, was transported to Baptist Health Corbin where he was later pronounced deceased.
Ashurst and a passenger on the side-by-side, 20-year-old Jerry Stewart, were not injured.
