A woman “securing her luggage” on the shoulder of the Pennyrile Parkway has been struck and killed.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the incident on Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:00 at the 22-mile marker of the northbound parkway.

State police said the accident occurred when a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was parked on the northbound shoulder as an occupant, 32-year-old Krystin M. Bowling, of Massillon, Ohio, “was outside of the vehicle securing her luggage.”

At that time, a 2014 Prius, being driven by 62-year-old Jeffrey B. Calhoun, of Madisonville, struck and killed Bowling. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian Co. Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP accident reconstructionist, Trooper Hunter Combs.
