A motorcyclist has died after crossing the median of the Western Kentucky Parkway and hitting a semi-truck head-on.
The accident occurred Monday night at approximately 9:15 at the 121-mile marker of the parkway when a 2024 Indian Pursuit, being driven by 57-year-old John Barnes, of Upton, was traveling east in rainy conditions, according to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
Barnes lost control of the motorcycle, crossed the median and struck a westbound Peterbilt semi-truck head-on. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The truck driver, 41-year-old Vasily Burshtynskiy, of Washington, was not injured.
As K105 reported Tuesday morning, the Clarkson Fire Department assisted at the scene by shutting down the parkway in both directions at the Rock Creek Road overpass near Summitt.
