A former sergeant with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and officer with the Leitchfield Police Department was announced as the new school resource officer at Breckinridge County High School and Middle School.
Erik Franklin has spent over 20 years working in law enforcement in some form or fashion in Grayson County.
Franklin was a probation and parole officer for 20 years, while in most of those years simultaneously working at Grayson County Dispatch as a dispatcher, where he served for 17 years. He then worked as a Grayson County deputy, graduating from the Dept. of Criminal Justice Training in August 2021. He quickly attained the rank of sergeant.
He left the sheriff’s office for the Leitchfield Police Department in September 2024.
The Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on social media. Franklin was sworn in as a Breckinridge County deputy on July 1.
