It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Karl Reed, age 70, of Leitchfield, who departed this life on August 8, 2025, at his beloved home. Karl was a devoted husband, a cherished father and grandfather, and a dedicated professional.
He spent 35 years as a heating and air service technician, followed by a decade as a truck driver with Spirit Miller Trucking, where he embraced the open road and the thrill of delivering goods across 46 states. His passion for cars, particularly in buying and selling vintage models, also brought him great joy.
Born on September 27, 1954, in Howe Valley, Kentucky, Karl was the son of Herbert Reed and the late Jean Martin Reed. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rebecca Darst Reed, with whom he celebrated 54 years of partnership.
Karl’s legacy will live on through numerous family members, including his beloved grandson, Kaelin Reed (Felisha); a step great-grandson, Canaan Riggs; two sisters, Julia Givens and Karen Taber; two brothers, Dale Reed and Mike Reed; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his mother, his son, Terrance “Adam” Reed; his great-grandson, Kashden Reed; and his brother, Harold Reed.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Leitchfield Funeral Home on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service to honor Karl’s life will follow at 1:00 PM, also at Leitchfield Funeral Home, with burial to take place in the Hobert Cemetery.
