A suspect has been arrested after dragging a woman off a walking trail and trying to sexually assault the victim.
The incident happened Monday morning at approximately 7:30 in Montgomery County when 28-year-old Dakota L. Miles, of Mt. Sterling, attacked a walker on Adena Trail, a walking trail in downtown Mt. Sterling, according to multiple media reports.
Mt. Sterling police said that the victim had injuries to her neck and knees after Miles grabbed her from behind, strangled her and “dragged her from the trail toward nearby buildings,” WKYT.com reports.
Miles then robbed the victim before disrobing the woman and attempting to rape her before fleeing the scene.
He was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with first-degree robbery, kidnapping and attempted first-degree rape. Miles is lodged in the Montgomery County Detention Center.
