Additional information has emerged on the death of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer.
K105 reported on Wednesday that Jayden’s mother, 33-year-old Felicia Gross, of Jackson, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter (a class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison), abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and falsely reporting an incident.
Gross’ arrest citation, according to media reports, notes that Gross told police that she gave Jayden “a type of sleeping medication,” according to WKYT.com, that precipitated his death.
She then transported his body to a wooded area and buried the child in a shallow grave.
Gross then reported Jayden missing on Tuesday morning, August 4 at approximately 9:00. She additionally coached her other two children on what to tell authorities when questioned.
Gross told police Jayden went missing from their residence on Panbowl Brand Road.
Gross was charged after Kentucky State Police investigators on Tuesday “received new information related to the disappearance of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer,” state police said.
The remains were transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
Jayden only recently began living with his mother following the death of his great-grandmother.
Gross is being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
