A handcuffed suspect who stole a police cruiser in eastern Kentucky has been re-arrested.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Perry County Park when 30-year-old Chris Combs was arrested by a Perry County deputy on an indictment warrant. As deputies arrested Combs, he was discovered to be in possession of 40 grams of methamphetamine and thousands of dollars in cash, according to media reports.

Combs was placed, handcuffed behind his back, in the back of the cruiser. The suspect, though, escaped the cuffs and stole the cruiser, a Dodge Charger.

He was arrested on Thursday in Letcher County by Kentucky State Police following a foot pursuit. The cruiser was also recovered and in “good condition,” Perry Co. Sheriff Joe Engle said.

Combs was lodged in the Letcher County Jail where he’s been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), three counts of fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, resisting arrest, menacing, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), and persistent felony offender.
