A Hopkins County couple has been charged in an infant’s death.
Kentucky State Police said investigators were notified on August 3 regarding a 10-month-old’s death in Earlington.
“(The) preliminary investigation revealed the 10-month-old was pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner inside the residence of the infant’s caretakers,” state police said.
The investigation and autopsy, state police stated, further revealed that “foul play was the cause of death.”
The infant’s biological mother, 27-year-old Samantha G. Stagner, of Earlington, and the mother’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Dayton W. Mason, also of Earlington, were arrested by state police on Thursday and charged with first-degree manslaughter, a class A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
No other information was released.
