A Taylorsville man has been charged with murder after his passenger was killed when the suspect crashed into a house in Bardstown.

Jason Wurts, 25, was charged with murder, DUI, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, and speeding 26 mph or more over the limit.

The charges arose after Wurts, on Saturday, June 21, crashed into a tree and an unoccupied vehicle before hitting a home in the 800 block West Stephen Foster Avenue, according to the Bardstown Fire Department. The crash resulted in the death of his passenger, 27-year-old Morgan Williamson, of Taylorsville, who was pronounced deceased at Flaget Memorial Hospital.

Wurts was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Wurts is being held in the Nelson County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
