A teenager has been airlifted following a boating accident on Herrington Lake.
The incident happened on Saturday evening at approximately 8:00 when a 13-year-old boy was tubing on the Mercer County lake. The victim fell off the tube and as the boater was positioning the boat to pick up the boy, the victim was struck by the watercraft.
Mercer County Emergency Management personnel told news outlets that the boy had “substantial injuries,” as he suffered broken bones and multiple lacerations when hit by the boat’s propeller.
He was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center.
No criminal charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
