A trooper has fatally shot a man who threatened self-harm.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting that took place Monday morning at approximately 10:00 on a business property on Hwy 680 in Harold in Floyd County.
State police said its preliminary investigation showed that on Monday just before 8:00 a.m., troopers were notified of a male at the business “who was attempting to enter several vehicles and requesting transportation from that location.”
A trooper arrived on scene and encountered the male, 33-year-old Henry Foster, of Raven, Virginia. Police said Foster “presented a firearm and began threatening self-harm. Other troopers and officers from other agencies responded to the scene to assist,” according to state police.
State police said troopers attempted to deescalate the situation, but “just before 10:00 a.m., a trooper discharged his agency-issued firearm,” killing Foster.
